This state-certified course satisfies the training requirement to apply for a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL), which is necessary to purchase a handgun in the state. Designed for first-time buyers and delivered in a welcoming, inclusive environment, this class provides the knowledge and confidence needed to move forward as a responsible firearm owner.

Course Goals
By the end of this course, participants will:

Please Note:This course does not include fingerprinting services or the Maryland State Police application fee—both are required to complete the HQL application process. Guidance on how to complete these steps will be provided during class.
